USCIS announced that it would be suspending in-person services at its field office and application support centers due to security concerns. Those offices will be closed on January 19 and 20, 2021, coinciding with President-elect Biden’s inauguration.

USCIS did not specify the reasons for suspension of services, writing only that it was “to ensure the safety of our employees and individuals with appointments.” Due to recent rioting at the US Capitol and the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election, USCIS may have received threats at its service centers.
